Workshop Operative required with immediate start for the right candidate! Previous experience working within the glass industry helpful but not essential as full training will be provided. Our ideal candidate is someone interested in developing a career in the glass industry with one of the leading Architectural and Decorative glass companies in Europe and the UK. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
  • The Processing of glass
  • Surface decoration
  • Laminating glass panels
  • Painting glass
  • Working with Kiln formed glass
  • General workshop duties
Working hours are from 8am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday at our Croydon premises. Overtime opportunity is available as and when required. c£35,000 + Commission Technical Sales Consultant (Interior Fit-Out): An ambitious Technical Sales Consultant with experience selling specialist high value products and solutions into the architectural sector, is required to promote a range of high quality decorative glass products to architects, designers, and specifiers. Join a leading business in the design, manufacture, supply, project management, and installation of architectural decorative glass. Reporting to the Sales Director, the Technical Sales Consultant will focus on handling incoming enquiries, follow up leads and attend key account and new prospect meetings, and winning new business. The Technical Sales Consultant, having secured specifications on projects, will also progress and negotiate the projects through the tendering process to secure orders from contractors. This role will be based in Croydon but will involve contact with architects and designers both nationally and internationally. Product support expertise will be provided by senior management and colleagues. Full product training will be provided. Great career progression in the further development of the company’s overall sales strategy and management is on offer. Responsibilities:
  • Following up inbound enquiries and leads
  • Organising site visits to develop new business and existing accounts
  • Identifying opportunities to cross sell / up sell other products
  • progress and negotiate the projects through the tendering process to secure orders from contractors
  • Interpreting the customer’s requirements, costing and producing proposal document to send to the  customer
  • Managing own diary and logging all meetings and interactions on company CRM system
  • Establishing relationships with architects, designers, joinery and main contractors
Skills & Experience:
  • Self-motivation
  • Experience of selling niche high value building products / service into the architectural sector
  • Strong account management skills
  • Good knowledge of the procurement process in the construction sector
  • Understanding of the various procurement methods for building projects e.g. single and two stage tendering
  • A background of converting enquiries into sales
  • Working Knowledge of all Microsoft office software

New Processing Facilities

Chelsea Artisans and Fusion Glass Designs have recently commissioned new gas fired ovens for kiln forming glass. The new ovens will speed up production times and also allow for the forming of curved glass panels. Another feature is that two of the ovens can be combined enabling the manufacture of kiln formed panels up to 7m in length. The company has continued to develop the range of patterns, curves and bends that can be achieved in kiln forming. Clients, designers and contractors continue to request new and varied effects that are kiln formed and the recent investment in the new facilities will ensure that Chelsea Artisans and Fusion Glass Designs remain at the forefront of the development and use of kiln formed glass.

Google’s New London Office

Working closely with main contractor Vinci Construction UK, Chelsea Artisans have recently completed extensive glazing works at the new Google offices in King's Cross, London. The sub-contract package comprised of the design development, manufacture and installation of clear glass screens to the scenic lift enclosures in the central atrium area of King's Cross Central B1 along with screen printed wall cladding panels to the main entrance escalator foyer. Chelsea Artisans developed the design intent of client architects Wilmotte & Associés UK and agreed construction details with executive architects Adamson Associates.

Victoria Beckham, Dover Street

Chelsea Artisans recently provided a range of glass products for the new Victoria Beckham high end fashion boutique in London’s Dover Street. Working with architect/designer Farshid Moussavi and project manager Millbridge Group the company supplied and installed clear glass balustrades and mirrors to the changing rooms. The client and designer also selected a shimmering fabric laminated between glass to create a prominent design feature to the cash wrap and changing room areas. Working closely with the project manager and other specialists on a constricted site in the heart of London’s West End, Chelsea Artisans’ played their part in ensuring the project was ready on time for the long planned opening date.
