The Diamond System is a renowned and unique range of patented products that set the standard for impact resistance and safety using annealed glass. Tested to withstand the severest impact and resist explosive blast, Diamond System products also enhance the versatility of glass and provide designers and architects with greater scope to explore new applications.
A lightweight system that is one-third lighter than conventional glass which is easy to handle and install. It is significantly stronger than ordinary safety glass when installed with reduced risk of breakage and personal injury and is the preferred choice of many blue chip clients in the residential, leisure, retail, hospitality, health and fitness market sectors throughout the world.
For each of the products there is a choice of two standard specifications:
4mm thick glass with 4mm thick impact resistant backing (8mm nominal total thickness) suitable for ‘over cladding’ existing finishes or any smooth continuous substrate.
4mm thick glass, 2mm thick impact resistant layer and 12mm thick lightweight composite board (18mm nominal total thickness) obviating the need for a smooth continuous substrate. This product is ideal where installation tolerances are essential. The lightweight backing board provides support and rigidity to the panel and allows it to be fixed to various backgrounds such as fair-faced brick/block walls or timber/metal studs. The use of Diamond 18 can eliminate the cost of preparing backgrounds with sheet materials or plaster.
When used in large panels, long runs or at high level, the background has to be true in both the vertical and horizontal planes to ensure an acceptable reflective image/installation. In our experience this is rarely, if ever, achieved. Diamond 18 is designed to be self-supporting and when used in conjunction with our trim can accommodate voids up to 10-15mm and still perform to the requisite safety standards. If alternative products are used on such inappropriate backgrounds, the safety performance and reflective quality can be compromised.
Please note that we also offer:
4mm thick glass with 2mm thick impact resistant backing (6mm nominal total thickness) suitable for ‘over cladding’ existing finishes or any smooth continuous substrate.
